Bootcamp VII All Females Day One
· 2 min read
What a challenging day! Had so much to learn and so much fun.
Walking In
I walked into the Andela bootcamp not knowing what to expect. Bootcamp VII was special — it was the all-female edition. In that room were 40 intelligent women, each with their own story, each determined to grow as a developer.
The energy was electric. You could feel the excitement mixed with nervousness. We were all there for the same reason: to push ourselves beyond our comfort zones and become better software developers.
The Challenges
The first day hit hard. We were thrown into coding challenges right away. No easing in, no hand-holding. The facilitators believed in learning by doing, and they meant it.
I remember staring at my screen, trying to figure out how to approach the first problem. The clock was ticking, and my mind was racing. But then something beautiful happened — the woman next to me leaned over and said, "Let's figure this out together."
That spirit of collaboration defined the entire bootcamp experience.
What I Learned
Beyond the technical skills, day one taught me invaluable lessons:
- Collaboration over competition. We were stronger together.
- It's okay to struggle. The struggle is where growth happens.
- Women in tech are unstoppable. The talent and determination in that room was incredible.
Looking Forward
Day one was just the beginning. The challenges ahead would be tougher, the problems more complex, but after experiencing the camaraderie and support of 40 amazing women, I knew we'd get through it together.
To every woman considering a career in tech: take the leap. You belong here.
